The 2nd Annual charity boxing night at the Santa Monica Pier raised money and awareness for juvenile diabetes and childhood obesity.

Victor Noval, the philanthropist who established the Victorino Noval Foundation, recently made a generous donation to the Sugar Ray Leonard Foundation during its 2nd Annual “Big Fighters, Big Cause†charity boxing event held at the Santa Monica Pier. The event raised funds and awareness for juvenile diabetes and childhood obesity.
Victorino Noval was one of the event’s specially invited guests, which also included a number of celebrities and professional athletes. The exciting evening included four amateur and professional heavyweight boxing matches, as well as a silent auction featuring exclusive items like memorabilia signed by boxing legend and event host Sugar Ray Leonard. Leonard, who recently competed on the hit TV show “Dancing with the Stars,†created the Sugar Ray Leonard Foundation in 2009 to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
“I admire the Sugar Ray Leonard Foundation for the outstanding work it’s doing to fight juvenile diabetes and childhood obesity, and I’m happy to support such a great cause,†said Victor Noval. “As the proud father of four boys, I know how important it is to keep kids active and healthy.â€
Beyond lending his support to the Sugar Ray Leonard Foundation, Victorino Noval is also a loyal benefactor of several other charitable organizations and events like the Children’s Trust Fund and the “Spark of Love†toy drive.
Noval is the founder of the Victorino Noval Foundation, an organization he created in memory of his father, Victorino Noval, Sr. The elder Noval was a Spanish-born businessman who lived in Cuba and spent many years attempting to eliminate Communist influence in Cuba. In 1966, Noval, Sr., with the help of the CIA, fled to the United States to be with his wife and children. The foundation works to promote trade and cultural exchange between Cuba and the United States.
