Families are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to picnic on the museum lawn.
A variety of vendors will also sell their wares.
A book fare will feature several authors, including Roberta Hughes Wright, widow of Charles Wright, who wrote a book about Juneteenth, âOh, Freedomâ ($ 10).
Several other educational opportunities will be offered, including a mobile history museum, a healthy eating seminar and disaster preparedness lessons.
Admission to the outdoor festivities is free, but standard museum admission of $ 8 for adults (ages 13-61) and $ 5 for seniors (62-plus) and youths (3-12) will apply for entrance to the exhibition galleries. Museum members and children under 3 are admitted free.
